Mores Creek Summit is a mountain pass in southwest Idaho at an elevation of 6118 feet above sea The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) awarded Simon Contractors of Cheyenne the prestigious Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction asphalt paving.

The award was won for the rehabilitation of Runway 12/30 at Laramie Regional Airport. “The Quality in Construction Award recognizes paving jobs completed in line with best practices and standards known to yield high-quality asphalt pavements,” stated Kurt Bechthold, 2012 Chairman of the NAPA Board of Directors. “This award demonstrates the high quality of work Simon Contractors is achieving.”

Simon Contractors milled and placed the new pavement, performing some work at night to minimize disruption to airport traffic. The milling was completed without a single survey point being out of tolerance. After paving was complete, the runway was opened for 30 days to allow for curing; it was then closed again to allow for asphalt grooving and final pavement markings.

Simon Contractors completed the work 10 days early, and airport managers were so pleased with the smooth asphalt pavement that they are finding funding for the rehabilitation of a perpendicular runway at the airport.

We're looking for skilled construction professionals.
